Mirrors

For this project I had to look at what I consider 'Home'. Now this could be anything, a place, a person or even myself.

For this I started to look at the areas I have lived in over the years, from Farnborough up until my time at University.

So the idea I came up with was the concept of 'Journey' everyone undertakes a journey int heir life. So I went with the journey from my place of birth to current location and have symbols to show where I lived and then the direction I went to each location.

These are a few

For this I had to look into what I consider as my favorite things and list around 6 different items.

My Favorite things are:

  • The game Freelancer for its online community, it is also what got me into graphic deign
  • Painting 40k miniatures
  • The family dog
  • A particular family holiday
  • My laptop

So looking at what I listed I decided to go with a poster.

I wanted to keep it simple as shown by my sketches.

As I stated I wanted to go with something simple. I wanted to go with little colour so the items with colour stands out, it is also these items that are some of the things I consider as a favorite of mine.

What Is Graphic Design

For this Brief I started to look into how society views graphic design, and all the different job roles within the sector.

The way in which I decided to tackle this project to use my own history of how I got into Graphic and how I view it within society.

So one way I thought of making this concept was to look into infographic.

As shown either side I tried out different ways of possibly laying out an inforgraphic piece.

Game Play

For this brief I had to work with two other people (Amy Mallabar, Rhodri Parry). We had to come up with a new game or improve an already existing game.

We came up with with the concept of 'Down the Gutter' in which players use the spin dial which has colours which represent a pipe piece, from there the people playing connect the pieces and aim to use up all the parts then have one person pour a drink down one end while at the other end another person drinks.

Brand New

For this project we had to come up with an idea the was 'Original'. Or an idea that has stemened from another if you conclude that there is no such thing as a original idea.

So after doing some sketches of what ideas could be done I decided to go with the idea of a bottle that has a two layer sieve system which could be used to hold a fruit that would flavour the water and stop all the seeds any any other unwanted parts to combine in the water.

I have looked at a few ways in which I can go about making this work. One way is to have a area in the top that can be unscrewed, allowing you to place a fruit. Another way was possibly a tray compartment in which it has a locking mechanism to hold it in place.

Quote Project

Out - of the - hat

"First they ignore you, they they laugh at you,
then they fight you, then you win"
- Mahatma Gandhi

 Mahatma Gandhi
Born: October 2, 1869 Porbander, India
Died: Assassinated January 30, 1948, New Delhi

Also Known as
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi
("Great Soul"),
Father of the nation

Although generally a obedient child, at one point Gandhi experimented with eating meat, smoking and a small amount of stealing which he later regretted these things. By the age of 13 Gandhi was married to Kasturbai.

In his search for vegetarian restaurants, Gandhi found and joined the London vegetarian society which consisted of an intellectual crowd who introduced Gandhi to different authors, such as Henry David Thoreau and Leo Tolstoy.

When the Boer war in Africa began in 1899 Gandhi organized the Indian ambulance corp in which 1100 Indians heroically helped injured British soldiers.

Gandhi was the leading light in India's freedom struggle against the British rule. The uniqueness of this freedom struggle was that it was essentially based on Ahimsa (non - violence) & Satya (truth).

  • Mahatma Gandhi's birthday on October 2, is treated as a celebratory day known as Gandhi Jayanti, it is a national holiday

  • January 30, the day he was assassinated, is celebrated as martyr's day in India
The Formative Years

Three people had a lasting impression in molding the thoughts and character of the young Gandhi.

  • The 1st was his mother Putlibai who was a deeply religious woman. Though unlettered, her qualities of love, sacrifice and service for her children and others, deeply influenced the impressionable mind of the young Gandhi.
  • The other two were Shravana & Raja (King) Harishchandra, two very famous historical characters. From Shravana he imbibed the quality of love & from king Harishchandra, he imbibed the value of truth. Gandhi himself admits this in his biography

Kiss Me Quick

London being such a vast multicultural city has a particular identity to each culture in the city these conflicting identity cause the reason as to way there is not one whole identity / brand for London.

This also deepens when you consider the fact that London is always changing old buildings being knocked down to make way for new more modern buildings, but also with such a vast range group of people staying in London each person has a different view point / opinion as to what they see London and how it means to them.
